The AOWMA hosted a Site and Soils Field Evaluation in Gull Lake, AB in May, 2022.

The old home was torn down and a new home will be built on the 4 acre property. Currently, there is a temporary mobile home, a permanent barn and an abandoned well on the property. There is also an old septic field from the previous house. The new house will be a four bedroom three bathroom home. The homeowners want to save a section of the yard for gardening and tree planting, which leaves only a relatively small area on the property that has not been compromised and can be used for a septic system. Students had the benefit of a sunny day to work in, but the wind was bitterly cold.

This practical training day is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience evaluating a site, as well as practicing hand texturing and sampling. Installers who have recently completed the Onsite Wastewater Practitioner Training Program will be able to take their new knowledge and apply it on-site.
